Instructor Juan

"Hello my name is Juan Chavez, and I started taekwondo when I was 9 years old. At first, I thought I was just signing up for a sport, but it quickly became more than that. MYT became my second home where I developed confidence, discipline, leadership, and relationships that have shaped me into the person I am today. 

When I first started, I was very shy and lacked confidence, so I understand how intimidating it can feel for new students to step on the mat for their very first time. As I continued training, taekwondo taught me to believe in myself and strive to improve. 

One of my favorite parts of being an instructor is watching students grow, not only in taekwondo but also in their character. My goal is to try and create the same welcoming feeling that my instructors created for me and help every student become the best version of themselves, in and out of the dojang.
